My Baby is TEN

Mae was our very first little girl. I can't believe that she is already ten!
David said at one point this week,
 "You know, if she gets married when you did,
we only have nine more year with her."

Not a happy thought.

We celebrated all week long,
 But instead of boring you all with the details,
 I thought I would just show you all of the pictures.

All of the guests names and a team sign that my girls colored.
Obviously, volleyball was our theme!

I used an idea I saw on Pinterest and chocolate covered sandwich cookies for our volleyball cupcakes

Each guest got her own waterbottle

We played some indoor balloon volleyball

And, of course; she got alot of gifts

Lots of headbands and candy!

I just love how Tess is trying to fit that whole thing in her mouth at once!!

A few of the girls really liked the chicken cooop

A little bit of soccer and outdoor volleyball to end the day!
It was beautiful out!

Well, That's it.
Now to not think about how old she will be next year.....

The Punching Game

This game was so cool and so much fun!
I wish it would last longer than five minutes!

I started with a big TV box and spray painted the front and sides black.
Once my box was dry, I trace 15 circles on to the front and started cutting them out.
Once all of my holes were cut, I taped up the side flaps, flipped this bad boy over
and cut a flap-style door out of the back.

I followed the directions found here
               for applying the tissue paper, treats and bags over the insides of the holes.
Appying the bags takes time.
This was about the point of the project that I probably could've killed someone.
I didn't...
just sayin'

You may want to stock up on packaging tape for this project.
As you can see in the pic above...
pretty much everything is taped together by the time you get done!

 And there he sits.
Looks pretty good, if I do say so myself!
This really was alot of fun to play. Brett was very excited!

We also made some traffic lights. Which was a very similar process, just a smaller box.

Hope you got some good ideas for your next car party! See you back here on Friday!

My Little Guy's Big Party

Last week I posted about Mr. Brett and his "Need" for a Birthday Party....
Here's what I came up with!

(Warning: This is a Picture Heavy post!)
:)

Birthday Zone

This is just cardstock taped to a wrapping paper roll. In case you were wondering.

This is a punching game that I found on Pinterest

We borrowed my parents race track for the table

Haley made a road for the floor

And of course, there were presents!

I'll post soon with some tips on how-to (or how-not-to) make the punching game.
All in all he had a great weekend.  I can't believe that he is six already!
We are so very blessed!

Surprise, Brett Wants A Party!

So, being the great mom that I am, I was not planning on having a big party for my son's birthday on Sunday. Not because we don't have time, just because.  We are doing the Birthday Board all week and he loves being the center of attention.

But

apparently that is not enough.
He has his heart set on a party.

So, Put on Your Party Hats!
It's time to brainstorm.
Here are a few last minute ideas that I have collected off of (my newest love) Pinterest

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love this easy idea. Koolaide Ice Cubes added to Sprite!
And isn't this BRILLIANT!
A punch board made from poster board or cardboard and tissue paper.
We are definately doing this!
And I'm trying to find a way to do a version of this on our diningroom table.
I already had this idea in my head but it always helps to have a visual,
since this will probably be a "David" project.
I am considering using poster board to make a roadway around the diningroom...Not sure yet.
And I will be making a trip to Hobby Lobby shortly to get supplies for this yearly project. I just wish I had thought of this sooner. I can just imagine some of the answers that Mae would have given.
Maybe I'll just solidify that
Mom Of The Year Award
and make up a few answers  for her early years  :)
Of course, I'm planning on making a slew of cardboard road signs and maybe even making a traffic light. I have a few more ideas too but you'll have to come back another day to see those!  If you've got any good ideas for car themed parties, comment below! I can use all the help I can get with this last minute birthday bash.
A Very Fairy Birthday!
I am so blessed to be the mother of four children! My second daughter was born just two days after our wedding anniversary. Makes for a very busy weekend....
Being that we have four kids, we try to make each birthday All About the birthday girl/boy. The whole week is about "What they want to do" , "What they want to eat", "What kind of party do they want" , and best of all, "No Hard Chores"  They still have to do little ones. I'm mean like that :)
We start off with The Birthday Board which I posted about in April. It gets them all excited and geared up for a week of fun!
Next up, comes the Party Theme. Which, now that they are all getting older, I don't get to choose anymore. (Give me a minute to pout...)
This last one was all Fairies
The Invitations were in story-form and signed by the Fairy Godmother
We were planning on having the party outside but moved inside due to rain. This is one of the stumps that we made into a Fairy House. Each girl got a pair of fairy wings to wear and a fairy wand.
We painted on tree bark to make signs for all of the Fairy Food.
I hit up the Dollar Tree and bought some moss and fake flowers
Two of the teen girls from our church came to help
The Birthday Girl Enjoying some Troll Toes
Everybody Dressed Up....
(Yes, Even Me, Wings and all!)
Lots of fun gifts!
The whole room was decorated like a garden. I wish I had gotten more pictures! I got some Fairy Wall Decals from the $ Tree and some Butterfly ones as well. I hung them from the ceiling, so there were fairies and butterflies flying everywhere! We played a scavenger hunt and that is how the girls found their goodie bags and of course; there was face painting, nail painting and a little bit of make-up going on too.
All in all, the birthday girl said it was "Soooo, cool!"  Sounds like a winner to me!
Happy 8th Birthday, Sweetie!
Love,
MOM
