He is Risen!

What a wonderful Easter!

We started out our Sunday morning very early, with some yummy pineapple ham in the crockpot ready for when we got home from church.  The kids all had on their Easter garb, matching dresses and all. (Someday they won't want to look the same, so I figure that I should take advantage of these moments while I can!)  And ended up having Uncle Clay join us for the afternoon.

All of the songs we sang in church today were so powerful but I have been humming this one all day!

"He rose and conquered the grave! Jesus conquered the grave!!!!"
I am so very thankful for an all-powerful conquering Saviour!!!

Here's our Easter Sunday in pics.
Hope you all had a blessed day as well!

The Lost Library Book

When Audrey had just started school, I had some time on my hands one day and wrote a story for her.
I found it this morning on the computer and read it to her
 and her siblings.
They laughed and laughed.
I thought I would share it with you, Just for fun.
(Feel free to use your own kid's names, if you want to share it with them)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Lost Library Book
1. Audrey ran up the drive as fast as her legs could go. She was so excited!  Today was library day at school and she had chosen the best book in the WHOLE library!
Audrey burst in the door and started yelling, “MOM!”  , “MOOOOOMMMMM!!!”
--------------------------------
2. Audrey’s mom came around the corner of the kitchen, “I thought that I saw the bus pull up. How was your day, sweetie?”
“Oh, Mom! You won’t believe what I brought home from school today!!”
Before her mom could answer, Audrey pulled a large, very colorful book from her backpack.  Audrey had been waiting since the beginning of the school year to check it out of the library.
--------------------------------------
3. Audrey’s mom glanced at the book and smiled.
“What a nice book” She said.
“It’s not just nice, mom” Audrey stated firmly.  “It’s the biggest bestest book in the whole school!  And today it’s mine! Can we read it now, pleeeeease?”
Audrey’s mom said they had to wait until after dinner to read the book, so Audrey set her book on the entry table. (That was her special place for her books)
She helped her mom set the table and ate her dinner as fast as she could. She almost choked on her peas!
------------------------------------------
4.-5. “NOW??”  She whined.
Her mom nodded.
So she ran to get her book. But as she came around the corner, she saw the table.   The library book was not there. It was missing.
Audrey began to panic.  “Well, there is only one thing to do.  I will find that missing book, if it takes me all night!”  She vowed triumphantly.
-----------------------------------------
6.”Where could it be?” Audrey thought to herself.  “Maybe it got up and walked away. No. books aren’t that smart.”
“What if a giant wind blew it out the window?  No. The book was much too heavy to be blown away.”
Then she had it!  It had been stolen by pirates.
-------------------------
7. She knew just where to look.   Up the stairs she leapt to her sister’s room.   Her sister, Haley was the worst pirate of them all.   (With a patch on her eye and everything!)
Audrey was as quiet as a mouse; she began to sneak up to the door.  Wait! What was that noise? She thought.  There was something sniffing and snuffling on the other side of the door.   Audrey started to get a little nervous…
 “Maybe she should just let the pirates read the book first?” She wondered.  “After all, Pirates need to read too.”
No. She convinced herself to be brave and pushed open the door.
8.-9. There, in the middle of the room, was a gigantic purple ship with flowing pink sails.  On the upper deck was Haley, waving her sword and shouting at her crew.  Sneakers, the family dog, was wearing a red bandana and Brett, the girl’s two year old brother, was telling the rest of the gang what to do.
 (Well, in baby talk, of course. Cause he’s only two. )  But there were at least ten of them.  All guarding an overflowing treasure chest, and then Audrey spotted it.
There was her book.  Nestled in with all of the pirate’s gold.
--------------------------
10.  “I knew it!” Audrey yelled at the top of her lungs.
Haley the Pirate had taken the library book.    Haley and her bandits turned and saw Audrey standing in the doorway.
“Get her!” Haley commanded.  Audrey’s snatched the book and ran for the hall.   The pirates were right behind her. She was almost home free when she tripped and down they came.
Audrey, Haley, Sneakers, and Brett went tumbling down the stairs.
------------------------------
11. “What is all of the commotion up there?” asked their mom, with a stern tone in her voice.
The girls began to giggle.  “We’re just reading my book.” Audrey said, “It’s all about pirates.”
The End
Hope you are all having
a wonderful weekend with your family!
Catch Up
Let's Catch Up!
This week seems to have been very busy.
Now that I'm thinking about it; it really hasn't been any crazier than usual.
Here's some of our week...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We started off last weekend with the Wildcat Walk-a-thon
and Homecoming Parade.

The best part of the night was seeing a Full Double Rainbow on the way home.
We literally parked on the side of the road and starred at it!
Amazing!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maddie and I caught a sinus bug and were home sick all weekend.
Blah.
But while having nothing else to do I was searching the internet for ways to feel better
and came across a remedy.
2 teaspoons Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with 8 ounces water
Apparently it is an extremely old, everyone knows about it, tried and true solution.
(Please tell me that you didn't know about the "Apple Cider Vinegar" remedy....Please...
I would hate to be the only one that has never heard of it before.)
Anyway, it's working and I am back to fairly normal!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We picked a ridiculous amount of stubborn green tomatoes and attempted to make Ketchup with them.

GREEN KETCHUP

I'll let you know if anyone will actually eat green ketchup or not...Doesn't seem likely!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've also become addicted inspired by the show
Extreme Couponing
Have you seen how much those crazy women save! You need to watch it
and then you can become addicted like me...umm, I mean inspired  :)
Here is a sample pile of my coupons (It's taking over my dining room)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've started decorating for fall.
I love fall.
OH, and I found a way to use my Chalk Herb Pots for Halloween

This is Brett and Maddie's contribution to the decorations. Made out of a garbage bag and pipe insulators!

So that has been our week so far...
Can't wait to hear what you have been up to!

Little Things to Remember

I was thinking today that there are a million little things that we do every day that I wish I would take the time to write down. So guess what!
I'm going to write them on here.
Lucky you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maddie has started laughing anytime anyone says "Butt"
Example: David was speaking the other night and said, ".....the Pastor but...." and she burst out in giggles; which got everyone else at the table laughing and saying Butt repeatedly.
(This happens at your house, right?!)
Audrey attempted to take pictures for a National Geographic Kids Contest ,
with chances of like 1 in 40,00 or something, and is very intent on winning.
Although, she doesn't want the Grand Prize; just second place.
(We raised our kids to think realistically. Ha!)
Lately, Haley as been saying, "Not lady-like" instead of "Excuse me" before burping
or doing any other noisy bodily function.
Oh, dear.
Brett had a run in with the principal on the fourth day of school.
Brett didn't want to go in and Maddie was crying that she didn't want him to go.
I'm pretty sure that Brett was just being a good big brother.
Meanwhile, the principal saw him and came over to help.
The guy actually got into my van!!!!
Dirty floor, water bottles and tissues everywhere....I was so ashamed,
forget the fact that my kid was acting up!
All is well now, though. Very well, in fact.
He is loving school and already learning to read a couple of words!
AND....
While we were on our trip to Greece, our freezers went out and we lost a whole pig, 40+ pounds of burger and all of the berries and jams that we had worked on all summer!! Thankfully, 3 weeks later, on the first night of hunting season, God provided a deer for David to shoot.
 Literally, within an hour of being in the woods!
Now I don't have to pay almost $4 for a pound of hamburger! Woo Hoo!
Hope you're all enjoying Fall!
My beautiful Big Girl
Before we left on vacation last month, my mother-in-law took off with my three oldest kids and I got to spend an entire day with little Madalyn! I realized somewhere in the middle of the afternoon that I haven't had a day alone with her since she was a few months old.
She's 2 1/2  !!
As she will tell you; she is not a baby. So we did "Big Girl" stuff instead. We painted our nails and did our hair. We dressed up and then did a photo shoot! She is so much fun!
So this post is all for my Beautiful Big Girl.
I love how you dress up all pretty and then
go play in the worm farm with your brother.
I love how you hate to sleep alone.
I love your cutie little dimples.
I love your gorgeous blonde hair.
I love how you follow Haley everywhere.
I love how you belly laugh.
And most of all, I love how you sing to Jesus!
Love you bunches,
Mommy
A Little Bit of Summer
I'm excited to join this Sunday's Photo Swap at Sweet Little Gals! Thought I'd show you some of the summer fun we had this weekend since my husband actually remembered to bring the camera this time! One of our favorite places to go in the summer is out to the beach. Takes quite a drive to get there but it's totally worth it!
This was her first trip to the beach! She loved it!
I just love how they LOVE eachother
Apparently he is a pirate today
The three big kids
He always seems to be on Daddy's shoulders
And there you have it. Our Saturday at the beach. Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as we did!
